Customer Information

Repair Policy

This policy outlines how Coastal Byte handles diagnostics, repairs, customer devices, data responsibility, estimates, payments, and service expectations.

Service Expectations

Coastal Byte aims to provide clear communication, careful handling, and realistic expectations throughout the repair process.

Diagnostics

Diagnostics may be required before a repair recommendation or estimate can be provided. Some issues may require extended testing, hardware isolation, or additional troubleshooting.

Estimates

Estimates are based on the information available at the time and may change if additional issues are discovered during service. Customers will be contacted before major additional work is performed.

Turnaround Times

Completion times may vary depending on issue complexity, workload, parts availability, and required testing. Any turnaround time provided is an estimate, not a guarantee.

Device & Data Responsibility

Customer Data

Customers are responsible for backing up important files before service whenever possible. Coastal Byte is not responsible for data loss, corruption, or unavailable data caused by hardware failure, software failure, pre-existing issues, or repair procedures.

Passwords & Access

Some services may require device access, passwords, PINs, or account access. Customers should avoid sharing unnecessary personal information and may be asked to create a temporary password when appropriate.

Pre-Existing Damage

Devices may have hidden or pre-existing issues such as liquid damage, corrosion, failing drives, damaged connectors, prior repair attempts, or unstable hardware. These issues may affect repair outcome or cost.

Repair Limitations

No Guaranteed Major Repair Outcome

While reasonable care will be taken, not all devices can be repaired. Some hardware or software issues may be intermittent, severe, uneconomical to repair, or require replacement parts.

Parts & Compatibility

Replacement parts and components are subject to availability, compatibility, and customer approval. Parts are billed seperately unless otherwise stated.

Third-Party Warranties

Customers are responsible for understanding whether service may affect manufacturer warranties, retailer warranties, or other third-party coverage.

Payment & Pickup

Payment

Payment is due when service is completed unless otherwise agreed in advance. Diagnostic and labor fees may apply even if a device cannot be repaired or if a customer chooses not to proceed.

Unclaimed Devices

Devicves left unclaimed for an extended period after completion or customer notification may be considered abandoned. Coastal Byte may set a written pickup deadline before taking further action.

Customer Communication

Customers are responsible for providing accurate contact information and responding to repair approvals, estimate updates, and pickup notifications in a reasonable timeframe.
